Instant Pot Black-Eyed Peas
Ingredients
- 1 pound of bacon, chopped into 1-inch pieces.
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced.
- 1 pound of dried black-eyed peas.
- 1 cup water.
- 5 cups chicken broth.
- 1 teaspoon of garlic powder.
- 1/2 teaspoon of dried oregano.
- 1/4 teaspoon of dried dill.
- Add 1/2 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper, or to taste.
Directions
Step 1
Rinse the black-eyed peas and put them aside.
Step 2
Turn on a multi-purpose pressure cooker (such as the Instant Pot®) and choose the Saute setting. Cook and stir bacon until uniformly browned, approximately 10 minutes. Add the minced garlic and simmer for approximately 1 minute, until fragrant.

Add the washed black-eyed peas, water, and chicken broth to the saucepan and stir to mix. Select Cancel.
Step 4
Close and lock the lid. Set the timer for 30 minutes and use the high pressure setting as directed by the manufacturer. Allow 10 to 15 minutes for the pressure to develop.
Step 5
Release pressure naturally after 10 to 40 minutes, following the manufacturer's directions. Remove the cover and season with garlic powder, oregano, dill, and black pepper. Fluff the mixture and serve.
